Tactical Urbanism: Small scale efforts producing long-term change

I recently came across a fascinating case study of some short-term, low-risk local actions to creating more livable and resilient streets. From Guerrilla Gardening to Chair Bombing to Street Vendors/Food Trucks, community activists and citizens around the country are coming up with innovative, creative and engaging ways of producing change on a human-scale.

Some of these things are probably being done in Pittsburgh now. I know they definitely all could be. I highly recommend that anyone interested in urban livability and resilience give this pdf at least a quick glance for some inspiration from other cities paving the way to a more livable and communal future.

Nice. Who will follow this or understand? I mean, what??™s the actual purpose of this and what will we gain from it? Thanks a bunch. =-=

That’s a fun document. I agree that groups in Pittsburgh are doing several of these. Anyone know if there are some overarching areas of focus - neighborhoods, certain blocks, etc. - or whether the groups are talking to each other - if food cart vendors are talking with people doing PARK(ing) Day events?
