What changes would you like to see in your community?
-Bioregional currency and stronger local barter networks, electronic and otherwise
-Alternative energy systems, decentralized wind and solar with geothermal systems and huge focus on conservation/ efficiency upgrades to begin
-More local food system development
-Development of local trusts to manage and protect our commons and collect fees for their proper use... ex: water trusts, Marcellus shale gas trusts, farmland trusts, open space/ land trusts, transportation trusts etc.
[Notes on Common Trusts: Trusts would be run by citizen trustees of highest integrity w/o conflicts of interest, business must play by rules/ guidelines set by the people and best science thru deliberative democratic processes. Businesses pay fees to rent our commonwealth resources (fees would work similar to Alaska Permanent Fund). Sanctions for transgressors would be set
Government, as servants of the Commonwealth, would enforce Commonwealth Trusts and continue to tax business while shifting to more green taxation: tax polluters and land-value (to deal with speculation and urban sprawl)
