5/1/12 Organizational Structure

Been doing a lot of thinking about how to structure organizations such that stuff gets done. Bioneers and the All-Volunteer Vs. One-Paid-Position Choice [They Should've Favored the Latter But Didn't]. Talked to Barton Kirk over at SEEDS and former organizer of Bioneers, as well as Erin Copeland: told me that Bioneers has, in other places, been able to be better sustained when there was one paid part time (or even full-time) position keeping the effort going year after year after year.…See More

4/2/11 Larimer Vision to Action Primary Planning Team Mtg

[I walked in in the middle of it, thinking that I was in the room for the Economic Dev./Jobs group—they were meeting for the first time at the ECCO Center, actually. Poor dumb me. They're in the middle of their meeting when I get there, but I get a detailed & interesting look at what the planning process for really-developed Transition activities look like.]Karriem: 2 hr meetings once a month seems reasonableAndrea: …1hr is kinda pushing itTracy: Respecting people's time very much—seeing…See More

4/9/12: TTPGH and Structure considering recent months' events & plans

I think discussing the structure of TTPGH requires some knowledge about what's been going on recently. Here's my updates, a non-condensed version of what I put in a recent email: Larimer—Transition Larimer appears to be happening, folded into a much larger & complex non-Transition effort (that still is very Transition-y) and so I'm trying to bring people to volunteering opportunities and internships there (and that is my current focus). Larimer—it's kickin'. Green Team, Steering Group,…See More

Profile Information

What changes would you like to see in your community?
Imagine stalking elk past department store windows and stinking racks of beautiful rotting dresses and tuxedos on hangers; you'll wear leather clothes that will last you the rest of your life, and you'll climb the wrist-thick kudzu vines that wrap the Sears Tower. Jack and the beanstalk, you'll climb up through the dripping forest canopy and the air will be so clean you'll see tiny figures pounding corn and laying strips of venison to dry in the empty car pool lane of an abandoned superhighway stretching eight-lanes-wide and August-hot for a thousand miles.

3/31/12 Larimer T4T pt.3 [Led once again by Fred Brown]

[Here Fred gave us a bit more context and knowledge about how Transition Larimer could function in the midst of the other stuff going on in Larimer--he seems to see it being a more grassroots and education-oriented structure in the community. Afterwards we established plans for the Awareness Raising Group--namely, to fold ourselves into what One Voice, the Larimer Consensus Group's mouthpiece, was doing already, and offer our help to…
