Do we have one? If yes, can someone post it here?
If no, toss in suggestions - vision is a general statement about what we want to see, mission is the specific mechanisms that TransitionPGH will use to help accomplish the vision.

Mission: Fostering community participation in a self-organized network of neighborhood groups which focus on community-sized solutions to basic services.
Vision: A framework of self-represented neighborhoods working together to share resources, skills, and community-sized solutions for low-energy living.
Hmm. If we were up for tweaking it, I’d probably make the Vision a bit broader and the Mission a bit more specific. They’re a little too close right now.
Also, we have old promotional pamphlets? Do we have them in a digital format?
Current suggestion:
Vision: A future where all communities in Pittsburgh have a strong local and low-energy economy and are resilient to external issues such as peak oil and climate change.
Mission: Fostering community participation via neighborhood groups to share resources, skills, and community-sized approaches to economic, environmental, and social sustainability.
Permalink Reply by Justin Thakar on April 9, 2012 at 4:09pm Suggested Vision I'm liking. Mission: what does "fostering" mean in this circumstance? And do you suggest that neighborhoods groups are the vehicle for most/all activity? Trainings were always meant to be a major arm of the hub, I think, and I'm wondering if there's a way to work that in there.
Promo materials: I've got paper versions, but I'm not sure about digital... Will try to dig stuff up.
Hmm. Ok. Fostering generally gets used as ‘encouraging without doing all the work’. I think a lot of the on-the-ground changes will happen through neighborhood-level groups, while seeing T. PGH as an educator and connector. How’s this?
Mission: Helping self-initiated neighborhood groups work towards local resilience and sustainability by providing training, resources, and city-wide community and projects.
Pulling these two together (with minor tweaks to the vision) for initial approval (within this Steering Space group) before larger group distribution and approval:
Vision: A future where all communities in Pittsburgh have a strong local and low-energy economy and are resilient to peak oil, climate change, and larger economic trends.
Mission: Helping self-initiated neighborhood groups work towards local resilience and sustainability by providing training, resources, and city-wide community and projects.
