The meeting on Love as We Know It and Future Love will take place next Monday July 18 instead of the original date.  Our hosts at FUMC had a scheduling traffic jam.

So I hope this new date will be good for you all.  Present and future love, Rosemary

Please note, Heart and Soul members!  Because of schedule needs at First United Methodist, the meeting on Love as We Know It and Future Love will be next Monday July 18.  We have an upstairs room, so go up the stairs to your right when you come in the Aiken Street entrance.  I hope to see you there.  Present and future love.  R

At the last Heart and Soul May 2, participants shared questions and concerns, and decided to take them up together.  One topic was love:  What is the motivation?  When I die, how will I have used my love?

July 13 we will share thoughts and experiences on love and its lessons. We will also consider the possibility that love is evolving along with the earth and humanity.

Heart and Soul members, please gather at First United Methodist Church July 13 at 7 pm for the third Transition Pittsburgh Heart and Soul meeting.  Thanks to all who carry the impulse of expanding and strengthening heart and soul forces as we meet the future.

Happy Monday everyone! I've just added an event that may interest some of you - A Moment of Peace to take place Saturday, June 18th from 8 - 9 pm at Stillpoint Zen Center. Check the event page for more info. For those that attended the Meditation Flash Mob, this will be a similar way of connecting with people across the world through mindfulness and silent meditation.

Anthroposophy in Pittsburgh spring-summer festivals will celebrate the nature spirits in the plant world in harmony with the free fully conscious human spirit being: Ascension Thursday June 3, Whitsun (Pentecost Sunday June 12) and St. John's/Summer Solstice June 30.

If anyone is interested in the esoteric Christian path, let me know and I will send details on the festivals.  This lore includes the wisdom of all Initiates and has nothing to do with established churches. As one contemporary Anthroposophist said:  "...the outpouring of the Holy Spirit is not only intended for the disciples at the time of Christ, but can be for every person....This conception of enlightenment is not held by the churches, because every person who is permeated by the spirit will also as a consequence be free from every institution--must basically be able to be a priest in the broadest sense of the word."

Catherine, thanks for turning us on the the Meditation Flash Mob, what a great way of bringing people together for peace and loving kindness!

I just created an event with more details for those interested. I may be out of town that day, but I will most definitely be attending if I'm in Pittsburgh! Check the event page: http://transitionpgh.org/events/meditation-flash-mob

Is Transition Pittsburgh linking up with Fleeting Pages? This looks like a great opportunity for events -- unfortunately I'll be out of town for most of it.

Is there a way to post to all members of Transition Pittsburgh? I only know how to do this on groups. Thanks for help.

Hello Rosemary, thank you for posting the summary of the evening. I'm sorry I missed it. I'll be out of town mid-May through mid-June but am very interested to join a Heart and Soul event of this kind when I can do so. Are you planning another date? Monday seems like a good night to choose. Thank you for organizing.

The gathering of Heart and Soul May 2 drew about 24 people.  Notably, most of the official members were not present.  Everyone had a chance to describe his or her spiritual journey so far using a talking feather and a bell.  After a snack break, the group reconvened and decided the best way to go forward was for each person present to state a question or concern which would be taken up by Heart and Soul in future meetings.  Many of the questions can be grouped around  three or four topics:

Love:  What is the motivation?  How to maintain compassion in the midst of our "culture of death?"  How will I have used my love by the time I die?

The human "I"  (individual ego, soul, spirit being")  interacting with others in the world.  How much ego should I hold on to while attempting to love?  How am "I" reflected in others?  How to balance "should" with what I am now?

Freedom and Protection: When we open ourselves to altered states or the unknown, how can we regulate what happens?  How can one find and apply spiritual protection?  How do we maintain control over our spiritual gifts?

Fear and its overcoming.  Why are we so scared?  How can poetry and other arts serve Transition's song, overcoming fear with courage?

Did I request thee, Maker, from my clay To mould me Man,

did I solicit thee From darkness to promote me?"

Adam's question to God the Creator: – Paradise Lost, X, 743-45

Andy’s (visitor from out of town) question from Heart and Soul May 2.
