Event Description

In the interest of connecting people to where they live, who they live around, and how it could be improved, we’re proud to be organizing a night of neighborhood walks on August 7th.

The basic idea is this: Groups of people walking around attract attention, and get to meet each other. Walking around a place gives you a chance to see things you wouldn’t notice while driving. Collecting these things, along with possibilities for the future, is both a cool idea and very Transition-y.

What will happen is this: People will meet up at 7pm on Tuesday the 7th at various points around the neighborhood (see map at the bottom). They’ll follow a general path, chatting and taking photos of interesting things with phones, uploading said photos with captions (‘this would be a great place for a _______’), and eventually meet up at Hough’s for some socialization, or returning home.

How you can help:

  • RSVP! Knowing that people are coming is super important, and helps us plan out where groups should go.
  • Tell your neighbors/groups/friends! The more people, the better (get them to RSVP for bonus points).
  • Volunteer to help lead a group! We’ll get you basic materials and a starting point, all you have to do is plan to show up and explain what’s going on (and maybe knock on some neighbors’ doors).

Map of starting points (as of July 16th) available here.
