Braddock Farms is having a winter prep day this Saturday 10/29/11, at 10am, ending at 2pm. If you can get up at that time, take the 61B bus going out of downtown, and get down to 1000 Braddock Avenue, you'll learn (by doing!) about harvesting and prep practices for farms and have a good time doing it. Contact Marshall Hart for details and to RSVP: mhart@growpittsburgh.org We need about 10 people now, and we'll let any overflow people know ahead of time if they can't come.
From the email:
Hi Folks!
The end of the summer was such a blur, at Braddock Farms we were harvesting constantly, just about every day. Some days were spent only harvesting, filling orders, and preparing for farmstand from morning till evening. There was little time to do much more than to reap what we had sown.
So now it's early fall and we are still harvesting, while running out of time to get our winter hoop house crops planted, that's where we could use your help. This Saturday the 29th we will be ripping out the tomato vines in our hoop house, and getting the beds prepped for the next crop. If you would like to help out with this and other farm work, come out Saturday morning at 10am. We will have tools, water, and work gloves. Please RSVP to me, Marshall, if you will be able to come out and lend a hand. Thanks!
Marshall
